WHY IS THIS EVENT IMPORTANT?
On our wedding day, it’s easy to think that nothing in the world is more important than marriage. Saying “I do” opens the door to an new kind of life filled with new adventures, opportunities, and cookware. It doesn’t take long, however, for the tedium of the everyday to wear away the shiney newness of marriage. This Marriage Night is an opportunity to offer the people in your congregation and community a chance to reconnect with their spouse—to disconnect from the busyness of their routines and spend some time remembering why they said “I do” in the first place. The Marriage Night will challenge couples to see their marriage as a powerful tool not only for their own personal growth, but also to join God in advancing his kingdom. Marriage is more than a ceremony, more than a shared life, and more than disagreements over towel placement. It’s God’s picture of hope and redemption for a world in need of rescue.
WHAT IS OUR ROLE AS A CHURCH?
While Marriage Night is a national event, it’s also a local event. Since you provide a space to meet, we will equip you with the tools you need to maximize the event in your context. Your role is to invite the married and engaged couples of your church and community and to create a welcoming, organized atmosphere for all of your attendees . During the event itself, the opening devotional and an optional dinner are available for you to invite local individuals / staff to speak—such as a local pastor or another leader in the community. We hope to create a great opportunity for you to minister to the married couples and those planning to be married within your congregation and community.
